The Healing Power of
Compassion Meditation
with
Geshe
Lobsang Tenzin
|
|
Drepung Loseling Monastery is delighted to offer this Year-End Retreat on the healing power of compassion meditation. Recent advances in scientific study of meditation are illuminating the fundamental mechanisms underlying the mind-body connection and the inherent healing power of mind, as well as its capacity to play a crucial role in counteracting stress, depression and other modern-day maladies. |
|
Using the Lojong-based Compassion Meditation Protocol that he designed for Emory’s innovative compassion meditation research study, Geshe Lobsang Tenzin will lead participants through a step-by-step process of cultivating mindfulness and compassion, combining sessions of meditation with discussions. |

Participants are strongly encouraged to attend all the sessions in order to sustain a group dynamic conducive for focus and practice. |

While serving as the founder and spiritual director of Drepung Loseling Monastery, Inc., a center for Tibetan Buddhist studies, practice, and culture in Atlanta, GA, Geshe Lobsang Tenzin is a Senior Lecturer in Emory University’s Department of Religion. He also serves as Director of the Emory-Tibet Partnership, a multi-dimensional initiative founded in 1998 to bring together western knowledge into dialogue with the Tibetan sciences of mind and healing. In that capacity, he serves as Co-Director of both the Emory-Tibet Science Initiative and the Emory Collaborative for Contemplative Studies. He continues to work with Emory scientists as co-principal investigator on a major clinical research project funded by the NIH to study the effects of compassion meditation on the experience of depression, for which he developed the meditation protocol. |
