Workshop & Consultations by
Renowned Tibetan Physician
Dr. Pema Dorjee

March 31 - April 10, 2012

Tibetan medicine is one of the oldest and most comprehensive medical systems in existence. It is a holistic philosophy that seeks to maintain the harmonious operation and balance of all the energies that constitute the human psycho-physical being. Based on the centuries-old Buddhist study of the mind, it has provided what seem to be miracle cures for diseases often considered untreatable by allopathic medicine.

Workshop:
Designing a Regimen for Optimum Health
Saturday, March 31, 2012 • 2:00 - 5:00 pm

Dr. Dorjee will present the comprehensive principles of health from a holistic Tibetan medical perspective. Participants will have the opportunity to learn about the unique nature of their own mind and body and its strengths and weaknesses. The Tibetan system values preventive care; by understanding our mind/body profile we will also understand our predispositions to disease and can learn about the factors – of nutrition, activity, environment and psychology– that help us maintain optimum health.

The fee is $60 for members and $75 for non members.
Pre-registration is required by March 30, 2012.

Dr. Pema Dorjee

Pema Dorjee was born in 1950 in Tibet. When he was nine years old, his parents fled to India as the Chinese invaded Tibet. He completed his medical studies in 1974 under the renowned professor Dr. Barshi Phuntsok at the Men-Tsee-Khang, the Tibetan Medical and Astro Institute. A distinguished student, Dr. Dorjee was selected to complete his internship under Dr. Yeshi Dhonden, the personal physician to His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

After completing his internship, he directed various branch clinics of the Men-Tsee-Khang in Nepal, New Delhi, Dharamsala, Itanagar, Calcutta and most recently, Salugara, West Bengal. During Dr. Dorjee’s tenure at the Calcutta clinic, the Indian publication Telegraph Magazine did a cover story about his work, calling him a “Miracle Man.”

Dr. Dorjee was elected the first chairperson of the Menpa Lhentsog (Tibetan Medical Council) and for three years served as General Secretary of Men-Tsee-Khang; currently he is Technical Advisor to the Research and Development Department.

He participated in the Second International Congress on Tibetan Medicine, held in Washington, D.C. in 2003, and has been awarded various honors throughout his career, including the Gold Medal and the Gem of Alternative Medicine from the Indian Board of Alternative Medicine in recognition of his dedicated service to Tibetan medicine.
