Empowerment: |
We
are most grateful that Kyabje Sharpa Choeje Rinpoche has offered
to bestow the empowerment of Avalokiteshvara, the Buddha of
Compassion. Receiving this empowerment enables the recipient
to engage in the meditation of Avalokiteshvara for inner transformation.
If you have not received an Avalokitesvhara empowerment or Highest
Yoga Tantra empowerment in the past, receiving this empowerment
is also a requirement for participating in the Nyung Ne retreat.
There
is no fee for this empowerment, but a teacher offering is traditional
and expected. Drepung Loseling is covering all expenses for
Rinpoche and his attendant, including airfare, but the offerings
you make are important and will go back with Rinpoche to assist
his projects in India. Space will be limited. Please register
by May 8. |
| May
12-13, 2:00 pm. |
| Note:
There is no fee for this empowerment, but a teacher offering is
customary and highly recommended. |

“Songs
of Experience on the Stages of the Path to Enlightenment”
by Je Tsongkhapa |
| Kyabje
Sharpa Choeje Rinpoche will teach on this text, which is a personal
spiritual account of the great 14th century master Je Tsongkhapa.
Each verse of this text succinctly expresses how Je Tsongkhapa
himself cultivated spiritual realization into a certain aspect
of the path, thus unlocking the means for others to gain the same
experience. This is a unique opportunity to learn about the path
of spiritual development from a qualified and experienced master.

Sharpa Choeje Rinpoche is a foremost master of Buddhist
contemplative theory and practice, and is currently third in
line to the Ganden throne, the head position in the Geluk tradition
of Tibetan Buddhism. Born in the Kham region of eastern Tibet
in 1936, Rinpoche entered Drepung Loseling Monastery in Lhasa
for his training. In 1959 he followed His Holiness the Dalai
Lama into exile in India and continued his studies in the reestablished
Drepung Loseling Monastery in south India, where he received
the Geshe Lharam degree, the equivalent of a doctorate in philosophy
and the highest degree of training in Tibetan Buddhism, in the
late 1970s. He was then appointed Deputy Abbot and then Abbot
of Gyuto Tantric College by His Holiness the Dalai Lama. After
completing his tenure as Abbot, Kyabje Sharpa Choeje Rinpoche
now resides at Drepung Loseling Monastery, where he teaches
and participates actively in the education of monks training
for the Geshe degree. In the position of the Sharpa Choeje Rinpoche,
he travels extensively around the world to attend conferences,
teach on Tibetan Buddhism, and provide advice and guidance to
groups and individuals in their spiritual practice and development. |
