Khen Rinpoche
Khen Rinpoche, Geshe Lobsang Gyatso is the Supreme Head of Drepung Loseling Monastery. Born in 1933 in Kham, eastern Tibet, he entered Drepung Loseling Monastery at an early age. He received his Geshe Lharam degree in 1981, and since then has taught various Buddhist disciplines. In 2000 he was appointed Abbot of Drepung Loseling Monastery by His Holiness the Dalai Lama, and in this capacity he continues to oversee the spiritual and educational programs of the monastery. Khen Rinpoche last visited Atlanta in the Fall of 2004, when he gave a two-day teaching on the Heart Sutra, a Medicine Buddha permissory empowerment, and other teachings.

into Avalokiteshvara, the embodiment of the enlightened
compassionate mind. Participation is encouraged for
those who have attended the Foundation Series or have
an equivalent background in Buddhism. The first day
will be for preparatory and actual initiation, and
the second day for teaching and discussion.
