The
Foundation Series
MARCH - JULY, 2005
Taught
by
Venerable
Lhading Rinpoche
Saturdays,
10:00 AM to 4:30 PM
|
| |
| This
five-part series introduces the spiritual aspirant
to the essential elements of Tibetan Buddhist philosophy,
theory and practice. The course was initially designed
by H.H. Rizong Rinpoche specifically for Drepung Loseling
Institute, and over the years we have offered it many
times. In each one-day retreat you will examine a
particular topic and its relevance to daily life through
teachings, meditation and discussion. If you are considering
the practice of Buddhism, these retreats provide a
basis for individual and group practice at Drepung
Loseling Institute, and serve as a general prerequisite
for more advanced retreats.

Lhading
Rinpoche was born in Lhokha, Tibet in 1947. In 1957
His Holiness the Dalai Lama recognized him as the sixth
reincarnation of Lhading Lama, a great 17th century
adept. He received his spiritual training, beginning
at the age of three, at the monastery founded by his
predecessor, Lhading Monastery. In 1959, during the
Chinese communist invasion of Tibet, Lhading Rinpoche
followed His Holiness the Dalai Lama into exile in India
and continued his spiritual training at the re-established
Drepung Loseling Monastery. He holds the Geshe degree,
the highest degree of learning in Tibetan Buddhism,
and has taught extensively both at the monastery and
in North America. He has led two of the Mystical Arts
of Tibet tours, and is considered a gupta yogi,
a great master disguised as a humble and friendly monk.
He has agreed to be the senior resident teacher at Drepung
Loseling Institute, Atlanta for 2004 and 2005. |
