Tibetan Language Class

with Tsepak Rigzin


January 24 – March 27, 2008

 
 

In this class students will be introduced to basic reading, writing, and speaking Tibetan. This will include the full Tibetan alphabet, including superscript and subjoined letters, prefixes, suffixes, simple verbs and prepositions, as well as some of the fundamental rules of pronunciation. Students will learn to recognize Tibetan letters, do slow spelling and reading, properly pronounce Tibetan words, and write words in the standard U-Chen style.

The course will be taught by Tsepak Rigzin, a scholar-in-residence and official translator at the Institute. The author of numerous books and articles on Tibetan Buddhism, he also has extensive experience in written and oral translation. A distinguished educator, he has held the highest positions at various Tibetan educational institutions. He received his traditional Buddhist training from the Institute of Buddhist Dialectics, his M.A. and B.A. from Punjab University, and his B.Ed. from Annamalai University, India.

Cancellation policy: If you withdraw prior to the start of the course we will refund your fees, minus a 10% administrative charge. If you withdraw after the first class session, we will refund 75% of your fees. After the second class session there will be no refunds. You must speak directly with a member of the Loseling Institute staff if you wish to withdraw and receive a refund.
