An Extraordinary Tibetan Master

Geshe Palden Drakpa is regarded as one of the greatest living masters of both the Madhyamaka tradition and the science of mind. He will offer two six-week courses; each culminates in a weekend non-residential retreat. These classes explore two of the most advanced Buddhist topics. We encourage participants to read the suggested texts in advance and actively participate in the discussions.

Course One: The Quintessential Features of the Madhyamaka Wisdom

February 19 - March 26, 2003
Wednesdays, 7:30 - 9:00 pm
Weekend Retreat March 29, 9:30 am - 4:30 pm

This course is intended to provide students with an intimate understanding of the Madhyamaka rationale, as embodied in the great Indian classics by Nagarjuna and Chandrakirti, and the Tibetan interpretations by Lama Tsongkhapa. Geshe-la’s presentation will be in the form of a nyong-tri, or “experiential transmission,” and will involve active participation through discussion and meditation.
