and Relationships:
The Practice & Health Benefits
of Compassion Meditation
Saturday, April 18, 2009 • 2-5pm |
with Geshe Lobsang Tenzin & Dr. Charles Raison |
For the past four years, Emory University has been conducting a groundbreaking research study on the benefits of compassion meditation for deprµession, stress response, and immune function. Unique in many ways, this study has recently resulted in an article in the scientific journal Psychoneuroendocrinology and the award of a significant research grant from the NIH to continue and expand the work. |
In this workshop, Geshe Lobsang Tenzin, Ph.D., and Dr. Charles Raison, MD, the two principal investigators on the study, will present the method of compassion meditation being taught and studied at Emory and now in a variety of other settings across Atlanta. They will explain its medical and health benefits, and the reasons why compassion meditation may be especially relevant and powerful in modern times. A guided meditation will follow the presentation with a question and answer period afterwards. |
