(see calendar for exact dates and schedule)
If
you are considering the practice of Buddhism, The Foundation Series
provides a basis for individual and group practice at Drepung Loseling
Monastery, and serve as a general prerequisite for more advanced
retreats. The five-part series introduces the spiritual aspirant
to the essential elements of Tibetan Buddhist philosophy, theory
and practice, and constitutes the Beginner’s Level of our
Buddhist Studies programs. The course was initially designed by
Kyabje Rizong Rinpoche specifically for Drepung Loseling Monastery,
Inc., and over the years we have offered it many times. See calendar
for individual dates and topics. |

The Intermediate
Series
The
Intermediate Series continues where the Foundation Series leaves
off by surveying the essential teachings and meditations of Mahayana
(Greater Vehicle) Buddhism. Beginning with an “Introduction
to Mahayana Buddhism,” each successive retreat will then cover
an essential Mahayana meditation. The series concludes with a retreat
on Vajrasattva, a meditation for purification and inner transformation.
See calendar for individual dates and topics.
We
offer a number of other special courses during the year that you
can also register for. Check our calendar for updates on these or
sign up to our email list. |

The Lamrim
Series
The Lamrim system is a practical, step-by-step presentation of the entire stages of the path to enlightenment, starting from the very beginning of an individual’s spiritual development, and leading progressively to the state of Buddhahood. As such, it is a system that is practice, rather than theory-oriented. |
