Vajrasattva is the Buddha of Purification. Meditation on this deity, together with the recitation of the 100-syllable mantra, is considered one of the most powerful Tantric methods for purifying the negative karma of body, speech and mind, and for eliminating karmic obstacles. All the great Tibetan Buddhist meditators have relied on this preliminary practice as a foundation for the success of their meditation and inner transformation. |
| |
| This initiation will qualify those who receive it to participate in the weekly Sunday Vajrasattva practice at 9:30 am. |
| |
| Pre-requisite: Foundation and Intermediate Series (all classes) or having received basic Lam Rim teachings from another teacher. |
| |
| Note: As this is a Buddhist tantric practice, the initiation will involve going for refuge to the three precious jewels. |

His Eminence Gonsa Rinpoche was born in 1978 in a Tibetan refugee settlement in Mundgod, India. At the age of five, he was recognized by His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama as the 5th reincarnation of the esteemed 18th-century Tibetan master and abbot of the renowned Gonsa Monastery in eastern Tibet. At eight, he received his novice ordination from His Holiness the Dalai Lama and, that same year, began his monastic training at Drepung Losel Ling Monastery in South India. An exceptionally gifted student, Gonsa Rinpoche completed his studies with top honors, earning the Geshe Lharampa degree (the highest academic distinction in Tibetan Buddhism) in 2013. He was also awarded the Ngagrampa degree from Gyumed Tantric University in 2014. After his studies, Rinpoche traveled globally, offering teachings, initiations, and spiritual guidance to students in India and abroad, including Taiwan, Japan, Europe, Mexico, and the United States. |
