| Dear Members and Friends, |

A catastrophic flash flood has struck Nepal's Rasuwa and Nuwakot districts along the Nepal-Tibet border, destroying homes, roads, and bridges in minutes. More than 1,000 people have died and nearly 4,000 remain missing, with over 10,000 households urgently in need of shelter, food, and medical care. Many of you may be wondering how you can help. |

| We have identified two wonderful organizations that we invite you to support. |

World Central Kitchen (WCK), founded by Chef José Andrés, is first to the frontlines providing fresh meals in response to crises. WCK's local restaurant partners in Nepal, led by Nepalese chef Santosh Shah, are already serving meals in the hardest-hit districts, with WCK's relief team on the ground to help scale up that effort. |

Direct Relief is a nonprofit providing medical assistance to people affected by disaster around the world. In Nepal, Direct Relief is funding emergency medical teams, supporting Mountain Heart Nepal's outreach and equipping hospital staff with field medic supplies to treat the injured in areas rescue crews can barely access. |

| We invite you to donate to a fund split between WCK and Direct Relief to help provide meals and medical care to the people of Nepal. Please give as generously as you can, and kindly cover the PayPal processing fee if able, so that 100% of funds collected go directly to relief. |

| Our spiritual director, Geshe Lobsang Tenzin, has designated $3,000 from the Director's Fund for this purpose, and we hope you will join us in helping meet the basic needs of the people of Nepal & Tibet. |

Join us on Thursday, September 10 at 7 PM for a puja offered in prayer for all those affected by the floods. The lives lost, those still missing, the survivors now rebuilding, and the families and friends holding them in their hearts. |

Our resident monks will be joined by the traveling monks of the Mystical Arts of Tibet tour for this ceremony, and all are welcome to attend in person or hold Nepal & Tibet in their own prayers that evening. |
