Help us complete our permanent home in Atlanta

Drepung Loseling Monastery Inc.

Established in 1990 as the North American seat for one of the most important monasteries in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition, Drepung Loseling has focused on developing strong and sustainable programs in three main areas:

Sharing Tibet’s unique culture with North American audiences
Partnering with Emory University to create academic programs and research initiatives that bridge the Western and Tibetan intellectual traditions
Providing comprehensive education in Tibetan Buddhist philosophy, psychology, and meditation for personal transformation and social well-being

Creating a Tibetan Buddhist Center in Atlanta
Over the years we have made a conscious choice to focus our limited resources and energies on developing these programs, rather than a physical facility. Now, at the request of several of our long-time friends and supporters, we feel the time has come for us to put our efforts towards building suitable accommodations that will help to make these programs sustainable in the long-term.

In addition, acquiring a nearby residence to house our monks and visiting teachers will enable us to expand the services we can offer to the community.

We have succeeded in acquiring a property that will be renovated to better accommodate our programs and needs.

The new center will include:

A spacious prayer hall for teachings and meditation
An art gallery for displaying Tibetan paintings, artifacts, and a large rare collection of
hand-crafted Loseling dolls depicting the culture of Tibet
A library of Buddhist works in English and Tibetan
A Tibetan gift and book shop
A multi-purpose community room with a children’s play area
A small secondary shrine room
Office space for coordinating and administering the Mystical Arts of Tibet tours and our other cultural preservation programs such as the monk and nun sponsorship programs
A meditation garden housing a large prayer wheel
We estimate that the total cost for this entire project, including the monks’ residence, will be $2.8 million. To help raise these funds we have put toguether a list of items that individuals and organizations can sponsor. These range from the naming opportunities for the Main Prayer Hall to the sponsorship of Practice Sadhanas. Click here for the full list.
