“Traditions in Dialogue” Lecture Series

This series provides interdisciplinary and cross-cultural perspectives on contemporary issues in dialogue with the Buddhist tradition. Visiting experts from the fields of philosophy, medicine, anthropology, religion and science will speak on current issues and developments that are bridging the worlds of contemporary Western society and Buddhism. These lectures will be free or at a reduced cost for members.

Visits by Tibetan Medical Doctors

We have been honored to host a number of Tibetan Medical Doctors who have led workshops on Tibetan Medicine, held symposia and taught classes at Emory University, and seen hundreds of patients for individual consultations. These have included five visits by the renowned Tibetan physician, Dr. Pema Dorjee.

 
     
 
 
 

Courses in Buddhist Meditation and Philosophy

In addition to our regular practices, we offer a range of courses in Buddhist meditation and philosophy as well as empowerments that are only offered once a year or once every several years. The best way to keep abreast of these is to check the calendar. These courses are offered at Beginner’s Level, Intermediate Level, and Advanced Level. Most recently, these have included:

Mahamudra Meditation Retreat,
led by Khen Rinpoche Geshe Lobsang Gyatso, May 6-13, 2006

Nyung-Ne Purification Intensive weekend retreat
led by Geshe Lobsang Tenzin, June 9-12, 2006

“Exposition of Buddhist Tenets,” a ten-week course on Buddhist philosophy, taught by Geshe Lhabu Dhondup, June 22 – August 31, 2006.

“Meditations for Health and Well-Being:
Bridging Buddhist Wisdom and Modern Science,” an eight-week course
