Community Emergency Response Team
Certified Program
September 18 - November 13
Wednesday Evenings  7:00 - 9:30 pm

We are hosting the DeKalb County Community Emergency Response Team Classes here at DLM for their certified 9-week program.

This program is offered free to the public and you do not need to be a citizen of DeKalb County to participate.

The DeKalb County Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) educates individuals about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area. Participants learn what to do before, during and after a disaster occurs and teach citizens to care for family members and neighbors.

Those participating in the class master a variety of topics including disaster preparedness, team organization, basic fire suppression (with live fire training), medical operations, light search and rescue (with a practical exercise), disaster psychology and autism awareness. It is conducted by DeKalb County Emergency Management Agency and instructed by DeKalb County Fire Rescue Reserve CERT volunteers.

The program will be held on Wednesday evenings from 7-9:30 PM from September 18 – November 13. If you cannot make a particular Wednesday, you can take the Tuesday or Thursday class happening at another location in DeKalb County during that same week.

If you are interested in attending this free program, please fill out the application and return it to either this email address or a staff member at Drepung Loseling by September 10 (to allow DeKalb County time to process before the course begins).

A background check will also be required with the submission of paperwork. Any police station can print one while you wait. A list for Dekalb stations is included in the application. We will have a notary present at the time of the class for paperwork.
